Steamboat Legacy Scholarship

empowering families,
expanding opportunities

At St. Anthony Tri-Parish Catholic School, we’ve been proud to serve the children of Casper, Wyoming since 1927-and we’re looking forward to celebrating 100 years of educating young minds and hearts. As we look toward the future, one thing remains clear: every child deserves the opportunity to learn in the environment that fits them best.

The Steamboat Legacy Scholarship is a powerful step forward in ensuring that Wyoming families can choose the educational setting that aligns with their child’s unique needs-without being limited by financial barriers. The application will open on May 15 for all families with children K-12 and income qualified families for PreKindergarten.

Why educational choice matters

Our principal, Dr. Melissa Whelan, knows firsthand the value of educational choice. As the daughter of an immigrant and a first-generation college student, she experienced the impact of being able to choose the right school for each of her siblings. That same spirit of personalized education lives on at St. Anthony’s, where we believe that parents are the primary educators of their children—and they deserve the freedom to choose where, how, and why their child is educated.

In Natrona County and beyond, we see parents making thoughtful decisions every day about what learning environment best serves their child—whether for reasons of safety, academic rigor, discipline, family environment, or faith. The Steamboat Legacy Scholarship helps level the playing field by making those choices more accessible for all families, regardless of income.

more than a school-
a Community of Opportunity

At St. Anthony’s, we welcome students of all faiths, academic needs, and financial backgrounds. While our foundation is Catholic, our mission is inclusive:

  • Over 35% of our students are not Catholic
  • We offer free and reduced lunch for qualifying families
  • Tutoring and support are available for students with learning differences
  • We assess students three times a year to ensure we meet their academic growth goals

Still, the cost of providing a high-quality education—over $12,000 per student per year—means that tuition alone doesn’t cover the full picture. Our tuition is just over $5,000 for K–8 and $6,000 for preschool, but last year alone, 30% of our families applied for financial aid, with an average income just over $77,000. The financial gap to support these students reached over $650,000.

The Steamboat Legacy Scholarship would directly impact families like these, allowing more children to access the school that’s right for them, and giving us the ability to support a greater number of students in need.

A Commitment to stewardship and accountability

We take our responsibility to students, families, and the broader community seriously. Nearly all our teachers are certified by the state of Wyoming, and we are held accountable by our school board, the Diocese of Cheyenne, and our accrediting agency. We are committed to being responsible stewards of public dollars and continuing our tradition of excellence and accountability.

let the funding follow the backpack

Every child is different—and every family should have the freedom to choose the school that will help their child thrive. The Steamboat Legacy Scholarship makes this possible by removing financial obstacles and honoring the belief that education should fit the child—not the other way around.
